About me
I am a writer, journalist, photographer & blogger - a born storyteller and weaver of magic.
All my life I have used words and photographs to spin tales of adventure, joy, sorrow, beauty, and triumph of the human spirit. I would feel privileged to take these same skills and weave the story of your achievements, your family, your big event, your life.
I was born in regional Australia, and grew up there. I studied professional writing (journalism, scriptwriting, and novel writing) at the University of Canberra and further Journalism subjects at Deakin University. I completed a cadetship with a regional daily newspaper and went on to spend more than 25 years in the newspaper industry, ending my print journalism career with Fairfax Media. During that time I won both journalism and photographic awards. I have also worked in radio.
My love of telling stories has led me all over Australia and overseas. I have travelled widely and one of my great loves has been recording what I see through my travel blogs To The Far Corners.and Saltwater And Sunshine.
In 2017 I travelled to Brewarrina in the far north of NSW to document the coming together of two branches of an Aboriginal family who had never met before. I recorded conversations and photographed the joy of that first meeting, and the heartbreak surrounding the time that had been lost.
In 2018 I travelled to Cambodia, where I assisted with getting the Cambodia Peace Museum in Khasch Poy Village, near Battambang, ready to open. This important museum is the vision of Emma Leslie, Executive Director of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies in Siem Reap and peace activist, Soth Plai Ngarm.
I also completed a number of voluntary photographic projects, telling the story of the opening of the Peace Museum, as well as covering a visit by a group of international students to Wat Thmei, the former Khmer Rouge killing field in Siem Reap. This humanitarian work for the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, a non-government organisation (NGO), earned me the title of Peace Correspondent, and created in me a determination to do meaningful work across the world.
I am a hard worker and professional in all that I do, and while writing and photography provide me with my greatest joy, I also love connecting with people, cooking, telling stories, and inspiring others (and myself) to live a rich and beautiful life.
There are so many projects we could explore together - the possibilities are endless. I look forward to working with you.
